Parent Responsibilities
Registration
We ask that all children and youth attending BUUF at least three times
during the program year or involved in any BUUF-related programs such as
Our Whole Lives (OWL) and Coming of Age be registered with the Religious
Education program. Registration forms are available on our website and
from the Information Center in the north vestibule. Registering allows the
Director of Religious Education and teaching guides or advisors to get
to know your children. We also will add you to our mail and email lists
so that you will be notified about special events at BUUF and in your
children's classes. Lastly, registration is an important element of our
Safe Congregation Policy
Family Involvement
Children's Religious Education at the Boise Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
is a cooperative effort. We expect that an adult family member of children
and youth participating in RE will serve as a classroom assistant on a
rotating basis. These important individuals are required by
our SafeCongregation Policy (PDF)
and vital for successful classroom experiences.
Assistants do not teach lessons but support the planned activities. It is
a great way to learn about Unitarian Universalism and become better
acquainted with classmates and other parents. Strong and lasting connections
can be made when you involve yourself in the RE program. The RE committee
coordinates and manages this vital component of our children's RE program.
Snack
Periodically throughout the year, the RE committee will make a plea for healthy
snacks that can be stored in each classroom. We discourage foods that have
peanuts and/or peanut butter in them due to the rising number of children with
food allergies. Families can make special arrangements with the classroom
teacher to bring special snack for birthday or other celebrations. Please be
sure to make arrangements in advance.
Attendance
Please bring your children regularly! An important part of the religious
development of your young people is the experience of being together in the
fellowship community. A child who attends regularly not only gets more out
of the curriculum, but also feels more connected to classmates and the
fellowship community. Parents who possess an attitude of cheerful expectancy
about weekly church attendance will have fewer difficulties with their
children's involvement each Sunday. We hope that your family will make
fellowship attendance a priority in your lives.
