Our Plate Partner for the month of July is Boise Autism Moms. The Boise Autism Moms is an on-line support community operating under the broader umbrella of the Autism Society of the Treasure Valley (http://www.asatvc.org/resources/). The Society advocates for the autism community, and provides guidance and administrative support for a number of autism support organizations. Boise Autism Moms assists families who must navigate the “alphabet soup” of acronyms in order to get help with diagnoses, social program support, school support, etc. Their mascot is a “Rosie the Riveter” image, which Melissa “Sasi” Chambers has captured for this month’s Tarpestry. If you look closely at the background, you will see the myriad acronyms that “Autism Moms” encounter.
As is our tradition, 25% of the plate collection during July will go to our Plate Partner. If you would like to make an additional or designated contribution, please mark and envelope with those instructions, or write “Social Justice” on the memo line of your check.
The Social Justice Council wants to thank Melissa “Sasi” Chambers, once again, for the beautiful “tarpestry” she has created for BAM. Please make a point to view the piece in the South entryway. And check out her website: MelissaSasiChambers.com
