BUUF Climate Action Team (CAT) Mission:
To plan and implement activities to educate and motivate BUUF members and friends to combat the climate crisis. Work with partners, such as Citizens Climate Lobby (CCL) and others, to present solutions, increase awareness and take action in our community and beyond. 8/22/19

    1. Recap Events
      1. November 20 (Wed.) 7-8:30pm Raible Rm. – Citizens Climate Lobby Q&A – There were four CCL volunteers making brief statements and answering questions.  Approx. 25 people attended (some BUUF and others).  CCL had Info table.  Success!
      2. Dec 6  noon – Global Climate Strike at the Idaho State Capitol Building – Jane, Betsy, Ray reported that crowd was smaller than Sept. 20 but that BUUF banner stood out.  Impressive speakers.
    2. Upcoming Events
      1. January 19 (CAT Meeting) 12:45-1:30  Lea Rainey, Owner ROOTS Zero Waste Mkt.  Raible Rm. 
        45 min presentation to CAT at upcoming meeting. All are welcome
        Invited to set up table between services to “Show and Tell”
        Volunteers for set up – Dennis, Blanca and Betsy (location of table probably in North Foyer)
      2. January 27 (Mon) and February 10 (Mon), 2020   7-8:30pm  Speaker: Lisa Hecht  –  Carbon Footprint Speaker  Topic: CUT YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT AND $AVE!
        Two-part examination of individual carbon footprint and ways to save money.  BUUF members, friends and public welcome.  Raible/Stowe Room
        Volunteers:  Dennis, Dan, Cathy, Blanca, Betsy  == Greeters, Sign In, Set Up and Clean Up.  Refreshments- cookies and iced water. 
    3. Other Old Business
      1. RE request from Gem Emerson Paige- Jane reported that the project with RE will come sometime after the holidays.
      2. Social Justice Council meeting – Cathy and Rob reported that there will be a Social Justice Soiree on Dec. 17 at Black History Museum – CAT members are invited to attend.  SAVE THE DATE: for the Social Justice Retreat on March 7, 9-noon at BUUF.  CAT members are invited to attend with others working on social justice issues.
  4. New Business –
    1. Social Justice Council January – Eileen –  Rob reported that the next Soc. Justice Council meeting date has changed to January 14, 6 pm in Library.  If Eileen isn’t able to attend, Rob can represent CAT. 
    2. BUUF Monthly Newsletter (emailed) has been discontinued.  Thank you to Scott and Cathy for writing the monthly “Climate Action Tip of the Month.”  Not sure at this time how best to get climate action info to the fellowship. 
    3. May 2020 – 30 Days for The Earth – ideas from November meeting —  More ideas to be discussed in February – start getting details and dates going.
      1. Claudia – Advent Calendar for the month;
      2. Claudia-demonstrate how to extend life of toothpaste tubes;
      3. Dan- demo a parabolic reflector to concentrate sunlight;
      4. Joan/Jane-plant trees or native plants;
      5. Jane-demo pollinator information,
      6. Dan-healthful indoor plants.
      7. Tyra – has been trained by Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project and is able to make a presentation to BUUF or community.
