Owning Your Religious Past

Class Description: How has your religious journey impacted your life and ultimately led you to Unitarian Universalism? Join Rev. Sara for this exploration into our individual religious histories mapping out how those experiences shaped and connect to our ever evolving current religious identity. The majority of Unitarian Universalists come into the denomination from other religions; often there have been several stops along the path into our congregations. Some bring with them angry and unresolved feelings about experiences in other religious institutions, others have warm memories. Some move easily into an identity as a Unitarian Universalist; others experience a traumatic estrangement from family and from the center of their culture. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome. This class fits a variety of experiences from those new to UU and those who have been around a long time with the premise that we all experience shifts and changes in our religious identity. Using a combination of personal reflection, group sharing, ritual, creative expression, journal writing and more, you will The workshop is designed to provide both group sharing and private exploration, using journal writing participants will create connections, bridges, and resonances between their past and present.
