The Five Invitations: What Death Can Teach Us About Living Fully
Facilitator: Rev. Sara, inspired by the book of the same title by Dr. Frank Ostaseski
In recent months we’ve been living with looming death, many of us have lost loved ones while we’ve watched hundreds of thousands of lives lost to this pandemic. Add to that the loss of life due to racialized violence and the overwhelm of it all fees inescapable at times. We all know life and death are a package deal and with that knowledge, death can be a powerful teacher, bringing us closer to living a more authentic and spiritually meaningful life. Following Dr. Frank Ostaseski’s book, The Five Invitations, each session will focus on one of the 5 invitations: 1) Don’t wait, 2) welcome everything, 3) Push away nothing, 4) Find a Place of Rest in the Middle of Things, 5) Cultivate a Don’t Know Mind. Participants are asked to purchase the book and read the book prior to class. Classes will be participatory and include writing, group sharing, meditation, and art/creative projects.
