The Sketchbook Journal
Facilitator: Sarah Googe—not an artist but has been creating sketchbook journals for many years.
With help from Bill Wilkinson who taught junior high and high school art for 20 years.
Description: Are you one of the many UU’s who have created a written journal as a way of exploring your life more deeply? Do you believe with Mary Oliver that “the soul exists, and the it is built entirely out of attentiveness?” Then I invite you to experience another way of looking closely at the world around you. We will learn a little about the history of amateur sketching, look at how others have used a sketchbook journal, and begin to create our own. Half or more of the class time will be spent drawing. No drawing experience necessary. Students will not need to bring supplies—I’ll have pencils and paper. But if someone has a journal they want use, that is great.
Dates: Four class sessions of an hour and a half, Tuesday Mornings – 10-11:30, March 10-31
Minimum 4 students, Maximum 10 students, registration preferred
