Interfaith Sanctuary Meals
Interfaith Sanctuary has hot meals available during week days, but not during weekends. We are changing that. Boise UU is partnering with the members of Congregation Ahavath Beth Israel (CABI) to prepare, deliver and serve a hot monthly Sunday meal to the guests at the Sanctuary. This will be on the third Sunday of every month. We are encouraging other faith groups to do the same. Hopefully in the next year Interfaith Sanctuary will have a hot meal once every weekend if not once every day.
Shari, leading this effort, sources good food that would be otherwise disposed of from sources like The Rolling Tomato (saves food waste from restaurants and farmers markets) and the Idaho Food Bank. What can’t be sourced there is asked for by food or financial donation.
It takes about 6 cooks and 6 servers to pull off a meal with grace.
Upcoming Dinner – November
Our next dinner will be on Sunday November 18. We will be serving Mac & Cheese, with sliced hot dogs. Along with this we will serve green beans and chocolate chip cookies (a crowd favorite!).
Food Donation Needs for November
- 12lbs of elbow macaroni
- 3lbs of butter (real butter is best for this menu)
- 6 gallons of whole milk
- 10lbs of all-beef hot dogs
- 4 large (#10) cans of green beans.
- Fire up your oven and bake up some chocolate chip cookies or brownies.
All non-perishable food can be left in the Interfaith Donation Box in the South Entrance. Please contact Shari about donating perishable items.

Upcoming Dinner – December
For our December 16th meal we will be trying something different. Shari has received a large donation of frozen meats and we want to make casserole. We’ll need 6 or so volunteers to make a casserole at home using provided ingredients and then deliver the casserole to Interfaith on December 16th. One vegan cook has already volunteered to provide a non-animal product choice.
