Interfaith Sanctuary Meals
Interfaith Sanctuary has hot meals available during week days, but not during weekends. We are changing that. Boise UU is partnering with the members of Congregation Ahavath Beth Israel (CABI) to prepare, deliver and serve a hot monthly Sunday meal to the guests at the Sanctuary. This will be on the third Sunday of every month. We are encouraging other faith groups to do the same. Hopefully in the next year Interfaith Sanctuary will have a hot meal once every weekend if not once every day.
Shari, leading this effort, sources good food that would be otherwise disposed of from sources like The Rolling Tomato (saves food waste from restaurants and farmers markets) and the Idaho Food Bank. What can’t be sourced there is asked for by food or financial donation.
It takes about 6 cooks and 6 servers to pull off a meal with grace.
Upcoming Dinner – February
For our February 17th meal we will be serving up a Mardi Gras Special!
- Bubba’s Jambalaya, with ham, sausage and chicken
- Corn Chowder
- Bananas Foster
- Virgin Hurricanes
This is the non-alcohol non-shellfish version of the dinner Shari offers at the BUUF auction.
Food Donation Needs for January
- 6 quarts each chicken broth and beef broth
- 6 gallons Whole Milk
- Bottle of Olive Oil
- 2# of bacon
- 10# ham
- 12 green bell peppers
- 3 bunches celery
Item Donation Needs
- Assorted Mardi Gras beads
The meals take 150-200 each of the following (please donate as few or as many as you are able):
- Good quality plates – at least 10”
- Good quality plastic forks and spoons
- 9oz drinking cups
- 8oz paper bowls
