Discussion Items

  • Executive Order to Defer Withholding and Payment of Employee OASDI FICA Taxes

The Boise Unitarian Universalist Fellowship has considered the Executive Order permitting elective deferral of                 payment of the employee’s share of the Social Security portion of payroll taxes for September through                 December, 2020 with deferred amounts required to be withheld and paid to the IRS in January – April, 2021 and        finds that it is in neither our employees’ or our organization’s best interests to defer such payments.

  • Reopening review

No material change to the current decision was made. Central District Health Guidelines allow non-social gatherings of up to 50 people so events deemed essential could be held.  The threshold for re-opening indoor physical space needs to be established at a future Board meeting.

  • Bylaws Update

The committee reported that they are using questions such as the following to help guide their decisions:

Does Idaho code require the provision, do BUUF practices differ from what the current bylaws say, and do the provisions/processes foster inclusivity?

  • Ends Statements

A subcommittee of two Board members was formed to review the Ends Statements and they will report back to the Board in future Board meetings.

  • BUUF Plan Your Vote

The Board was asked to participate AND endorse the BUUF Plan Your Vote campaign. Nearly every Board member participated as an individual, but we chose not to endorse the plan as a Board because it does not fit with our policy-based governance model.

  •  Fall Congregational Gathering

This will be held via Zoom on Sunday, 10/25, after the service. Topics will most likely be ESTFI, Financial report, Ends Statements, Bylaws update.
