- Fall Social Justice Resolutions:
- there will be two social justice resolutions this fall.
- The first concerns (broadly) the treatment of Immigrant, refugee and asylum seekers. Click here to see the resolution
- The second is an addition to the UU principles that pledges us to work to acknowledge and dismantle racism and oppression in ourselves and our institutions. Click here to see the resolution
- Our timeline:
- Inform the Board of the Resolutions at their October meeting
- Conduct congregational input and feedback on the afternoon of Sunday Oct. the 27th.
- SJC members are present and available for questions and participation
- Hold an extra meeting of the congregation on November 3rd, if needed
- so we can involve as many people as possible before the vote on an adding an 8th UU principle.
- Review the input and modify the resolutions as needed at the Nov 5th meeting
- Submit updated resolutions to the Board at their Nov. 21st meeting
- Absentee voting in early Dec.
- Logistics for the Oct 27th Congregation-wide Resolution Review
- we’ll start the meeting with an announcement
- Jim will make this from the podium after the 2nd service, 12:35
- discussions will be done in two rooms,
- one for each resolution,
- approximately 1 hour per resolution
- people will switch rooms to discuss both resolutions
- Ask attendees: “could you vote for this resolution as written? If not what ideas would you need included to make it ok?”
- 1st session: 12:45 – 1:20
- 2nd session: 1:30 – 2:10
