Saturday, June 13, 4:00pm
Julia Pope Julia is a native of the greater Seattle area who moved to Idaho in 2000 to study at the College of Idaho with Samuel Smith and the Langroise Trio. She graduated with honors, received a BA in cello performance in 2004, and completed her MA in Education in 2005. She started her teaching career in the West Ada school district in 2005. Actively involved in the music community, she currently plays in the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera Idaho, and the Sawtooth Cello Choir. She has also played with the Boise Baroque Orchestra, Idaho Ballet, the Boise Cello Collective, the Bru Celtic Band, and partnered with Dale Keys to open for Asleep at the Wheel.  Mrs. Pope has been a member of the Boise UU Fellowship for approximately 5 years, and identifies as a Hufflepuff.

Liza Long Liza bought her 1925 Model M Steinway at a thrift store, and she is openly grateful that her mother forced her to practice all those years ago. For more than 30 years, she has accompanied for soloists, school, and church choirs (including our amazing BUUF choir). She also composes an annual holiday carol. Liza’s favorite music is anything by Bach and anything 20th century. Music is a welcome distraction from her day job teaching English full time as an assistant professor at the College of Western Idaho.

Enjoy the musical stylings of William Emerson Paige & Mike Lemieux
Saturday, June 27, 4:00pm
William Emerson Paige has been playing music for over 20 years. His musical stylings include pop hits from the 60’s to today, depressing country ballads, and indie garage rock. He also makes unashamedly bad heavy metal music with his band K-SPAR. He is a BUUF member and Boise native where he lives with his partner Emily and their pets Kita and Toni.

Mike Lemieux is a journeyman keyboardist, composer, and producer. He’s done a bit of everything in his decades-long musical career, from church bands to cover bands to musical theatre. He has just enough jazz chops to get him in trouble, and dabbles freely in fusion, funk, soul, blues, rock, and pop. For more info, visit his website at lemonwax.org.

April Ward, Michael Alvarado, Wyatt Schroeder
Saturday, July 11, 4:00pm

April Ward is originally from Littleton, Colorado. She has loved music and singing from a young age and always knew that music would be a big part of her life. April moved to Idaho when she was a Junior in high school and attended Capital High, where she met her future husband, David Ward. They’ve been practically inseparable ever since! April went to Idaho State University where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Audiology. She then went on to complete a Doctorate degree in Audiology at A.T. Still University (Arizona School of Health Sciences). April is currently the Director of the Idaho Elks Hearing and Balance department at St. Luke’s, which is a job she adores. She loves helping patients who are dizzy or have hearing problems and she also loves being an advocate for people with hearing loss. In her free time, music is her passion. She learned to play guitar 8 years ago when she grew tired of having to find an accompanist any time she wanted to sing. She then learned ukulele a year ago and within the past 6 months began playing bass. Bass is now her very favorite because, as a soprano, she could never otherwise hope to create such a deep sexy sound! April has loved being a part of the Soulful band. She has grown a lot as a musician and can especially learn music much faster as a result of her experiences with the band. She is extremely grateful for the opportunity, as well as the opportunity presented to her by Mike Lemieux to play in the summer concert series.
The Bench Players True to their name, The Bench Players aren’t your average musicians. They’ve been waiting forever to get in the game. They may belong on the Bench, but even starting pitchers get tired and need some relief. So take their music with a grain of salt and remember, when Wyatt and Alvarado are in the game anything is possible.
