Agenda:

  • Social justice resolution creation and handled
    • The process for voting on resolutions is given inAbsentee Voting Process-Detailed Timeline & Info
    • What is the process for creating  a social justice resolution?
      • context: BUUF current bylaws  have clear requirements for voting on statements to speak for the Congregation
        • would like to have the flexibility of voting on-line and at any time of the year
        • board would move the bylaws to policies and guidelines
        • the social justice council would originate &  handle resolutions
        • have until next march to work this out
      • How do we match the GA AIW with BUUF justice ministries?
        • resolutions come from UUA
      • other times we create a resolution  in response to local actions
    • would like to have a written policy on how resolutions  are handled
      • Board to delegate to Social justice
      • Don would like to help develop that policy
    • Is the SJ a gate keeper or a sounding board
      • SJC is a facilitator and leader of a process.
        • SJC has guidelines of what makes resolution, similar to plate partner nominations
        • give and take between the author and the SJC
        • SJC is a body that regularly engaged with issues and resolutions & will help the author to craft resolutions in keeping with our justice ministries
    • Jax wants to monitor how the policy is being developed

      • relevant and a spring board for further action
